The Last Guardian Book Review

The Last Guardian is definitely a must read book that you can’t help but want to keep reading. The Last Guardian tells a tragic story about Medivh. This is an excellent read that does a great job of explaining the Warcraft game. This book isn’t like the others. It doesn’t really focus on the war between the humans and the orcs, instead centralizing on Khadghar and Medivh. While the war is important it isn’t the main subject in the book.

This book focuses on the Khadghar’s trials within the tower combined with Medivh’s internal struggle. It’s different. This book is filled with familiarity – characters that are already known.

In the misty haze of the long ago, before the start of the recording of time, the world of Azeroth stood. Here you could find every type of magical being among the tribes of men in the countryside. All was peaceful. Until the demons arrived and Lord Sargeras, dark god of chaotic magic brought the horrors to Burning Legion.

Now dwarves, dragons, orcs, goblins, elves, and humans all struggle for supremacy of the scattered kingdoms. This is part of a wicked scheme of the grandest scale that will eventually determine the world’s fate.

This is a book about Medivh, how at birth he was already destined for the role of the greatest mage ever. The chosen Guardian of Tirisfal is Medivh’s mother. Here the most powerful Warcraft mage’s join together to choose an Azeroth protector and the world of Warcraft. Each gives a small amount of their power the mage of choice, who becomes the guardian. They then go on to fight demons, kill all kinds of evil, and protect the world against the Burning Legion.

The mother of Medivh is the guardian. Her role is important as she spends her time fighting the shade of Sargaris, who is the Burning Legion’s daemon lord. She wins without realizing there is a hidden plan in the works by Sargaris. A small part of his spirit makes its way into the womb of Medivh’s mother.

The birth of Medivh is uneventful, however she becomes corrupted and later connects with Ner’Zhul the Orc. Medivh helps Ner’Zhul to build the dark portal that will allow orcs into Azeroth. Medivh is born and eventually becomes corrupted and connects with and helps him build the dark portal, to allow the orcs into Azeroth.

The Guardians of Tirisfal are champions that have been instilled with God like powers. Through time each has been charged with fighting the secret Burning Legion war. Medivh, who was predestined from birth to be the greatest of this noble order. But from the beginning there was darkness. The soul was tainted, innocence was corrupted, what should have fought for good turned into the powers of evil.

Medivh was torn between two destinies. Medivh struggles against the hatred within him becoming one with the destiny of Azeroth, forever changing the world.

This book gets a nice rating of four stars by those who have read it. The biggest annoyance is the overabundance of grammatical and spelling errors. But for a good read you can ignore it. This book will be best enjoyed by those who are well versed in Warcraft lore. Find this and many of the Other World of Warcraft books at our site where we have reviewed them all
