I was sitting and I was talking with some of my female friends and they were telling me how there are so many things that women can do so much better than men. Now any guy who was ever been in a conversation like this knows that no matter what you say you are never going to win this conversation. However I in my stubbornness decided that I was going to prove a point. I asked these girls to make a list of things that a thought that guys could not do. One of them said that men could not sew their own clothing. I basically laughed at this, and I set about the mission to prove them wrong. I went online and I purchased aJanome DC4030, I downloaded some patterns for clothing on the Internet, and I went to a store that sells fabric. Next month I’m going to show them what I can do.

The most elegant accessories, shoes, and furniture that you own and care for are likely made of leather. Treating your items with leather conditioner will keep them looking their best, and will extend their useful life far longer than if you didn’t condition them regularly. Leather conditioners deeply penetrate the leather surface and dries as the leather furniture or shoes absorb the conditioner. They work to make even old, dirty leather flexible and soft to the touch, and help you enjoy your leather items even more than before. The beauty and sheen of leather is enhanced when applying conditioner, as the human eye can easily see the differences between treated and untreated leather products. Reconditioning your old leather products can be a simple task with the right cleaning products and leather conditioners. Imagine bringing your childhood baseball glove back to life with a little care, or shining up your car’s upholstery to factory new. It takes so little effort and leather conditioner to rejuvenate any leather product.

My teenage daughter is starting to sew. She’s in the eighth grade and just took a home economics class. She really liked the sewing part of the class. She has always been picky when it comes to her clothes. She liked to be fashionable with out being immodest or trashy. Most of the clothes she gets are online or out of catalogs and as she is growing it can be frustrating having to return things because they don’t fit. Well with her new interest in sewing she has found an answer to her clothing woes. She made a really nice dress in class that was both practical and fashionable. What she doesn’t know is that good old dad has been online to sewing machine reviews and have found her a great little sewing machine for Christmas. I am getting her the new brother project runway sewing machine. It is solid and has the ability to grow with her talent. I figure I will save in the long run because she will be making more of her own clothes.

Other than choosing a really interesting design, there are actually many ways you can make your Christmas cross stitch much more visually stimulating.
Say, you choose a plain colored cross stitch fabric like a white or ecru Aida cloth. You can dye it with red and/or green. This technique will be much more aesthetically pleasing if you chose a simple design, like a singular figure of Santa Claus, a reindeer, a Christmas tree or any Christmas themed ‘personality’ or item.
The most common cross stitch thread colors used for this particular embroidery project include red, green, yellow, gold and white. The preferred shades of these colors are along the pastel to light ones. On the other hand, brighter or darker hues are utilized as well for creating greater contrast within the image.
You can also try your hand on embellishing the cross stitch. You can attach beads, satin or lace ribbons or sequins along the border of a larger piece, for example, a 16 count 10-inch by 7-inch fabric. The embellishments will be more noticeable if they are attached to a Christmas cross stitch item that is not framed. This may be a tree skirt or stockings.

Brother Embroidery Machines offer a lot of great features. For beginners who are new to machine sewing and embroidery, there are machines that can perform both regular sewing and embroidery. For more advanced users or for those who own embroidery businesses, there are machines that can work in conjunction with a computer. Some of the more heavy duty machines include designs that require 6 or 10 needles and boast high-definition touch screen interfaces. For a beginner, this type of technology may not be required, but for an expert or professional, it may be a necessity. Some other important features may include the ability to edit a pattern right on the screen, or the ability for users to transfer images and patterns to their embroidery machine with a USB drive. This is a great feature for people who like to create their own patterns, rather than using the pre-programmed ones in the machine.

The effect of colors in our lives is undeniable. Whether it is about decorating your home or simply designing something, you are always swayed by the flow and expressiveness of colors. Thus, it should come to no surprise as to why kids too love any activity that has colors involved. Whether it is playing with Lego or working on a clay model, drawing or coloring, kids simply adore the fact that there are colors involved, that forms the primary driving force behind their motivation to do and complete the tasks. Perhaps the easiest and the most fun activity associated with colors has to be coloring pages. While coloring-in may be something we lost touch with back in our childhood, restarting the process as a family activity is one that is fulfilling and promotes bonding.
Take a birthday party or a kid’s function for instance, running out of ideas to entertain them is only natural no matter how much you try. However, keep a bunch of free coloring pages printed with you and you can distribute them among the kids, pass out some crayons, and see the fun unfold in front of your own eyes. It is always better to keep different types of coloring pages, as kids too, have their favorite characters, and plus nobody likes to be given the same page as everybody else. Search for separate coloring pages for girls and boys and have them printed. Pokémon is a safe choice for the boys while girls will always love the fairies, princess and other characters like Tinkerbell, Dora etc.
If you want to pass some quality time with the family and are having a tough time singling out an activity that the whole family can enjoy, then coloring pages are ideal in such cases. No matter what age group the members belong to, just give them something they would like to color into and you have a tailor made family activity in your hands that you can take up any time.

Today, there is no doubt that M.I. Hummel Figurines is the world’s most loved collection. It can be based on the fact that it has a Fans Club, and conventions are held every year for the members. Around 130,000 M. I. Hummel enthusiasts are members of this Club.
Berta Hummel was born in 1909 in Germany. She became a Franciscan Nun involved in the arts and adopted the name Maria Innocentia Hummel. She originated the art of drawing innocent children from Bavaria. When it was made into figurines, these were wildly accepted in Germany and later of the world. M. I. Hummel Figurines continued despite the death of Sister Hummel. The Hummel Family and the Convent of Siessen are partners in the manufacturer in continuing the legacy of Sister Hummel.
May 21, 2009, marked Sister Hummel’s 100th birthday. The Club honored her with a brand new figurine and a birthday celebration at the 2009 North American M.I. Hummel Club Convention. Manufaktur Rodental which is in charge of manufacturing the figurines released the limited Commemorative Edition called “Sister’s Children”, a line of Bavarian children figurines that are the epitome of Sister Hummel’s artistry.
There is no doubt that M. I. hummels figurines are the world’s most loved. To order, visit the M. I. Hummel website.

Mom’s antique singer sewing machine, I would love to know how to sew just for fun, or be able to make my very own dress. My mom owns a machine, and I should say that it has been there for a while, but I didn’t really give an effort to learn how to sew dresses using it. I know how to sew, but doesn’t really know how to use that machine. I looked at her this morning, and tried to observe how well she made one of the beautiful shorts she was saying she made, and I then I found out that sewing is a fun thing to do. I told my mom then, that She should teach me on how to sew things, so I can also make dresses for myself, and so I am not going to buy expensive ones at the shops, plus I can tell myself that I am the one who designed for it.
